England 2-2 Sweden

Sports No Comments »

I (even the entire world) keep on wondering, how on earth are England going to beat Sweden? After watching the latest match of a series of (boring) showdown between these two old foes in world football, I wonder how can England, for goodness sake, keep Sweden from coming back. At least we now know how to score goals againts England. i.e, let the defenders slip and get the slightest touch of the ball and just watch the ball crosses the line. Yes, it’s that easy. Even after scoring in the 85th minute can’t stop England from ending the 38-year-old jinx againts the Swedes. 38 years mate, 38 years.
Typical England. Even before the match I predicted a dull draw of 1-1 or 2-2, but certainly not in this way. To let matters worse, even after Stevie G’s goal in the 85th minute, you can feel that the Swedes are coming back, and they did. So, how are England going to beat Sweden if they are to meet again in the later stages? In the meantime, nothing…

WORLD CUP 2006!!

Yes, in less than 10 days, the world will come to a standstill, the masses may glued in front of their ‘idiot box’, every races, every colours, every religion may watch the greatest sporting event in the world, the FIFA World Cup 2006. This time around, the host will be Germany, while Brazil are chasing their record 6th title.
My favourite 4 teams in this tournament (most favourite by numbers): Argentina, Netherlands, Brazil & England. I rated Argentina highly this time around simply because I think they have the most complete team in the world right now behind Brazil. Ayala, Heinze, Zanetti, Sorin, Mascherano, Riquelme, Messi, Tevez and Crespo. Is there any better line-up than this one? Remember, Brazil only won the title once when the tournament was played in Europe, so I don’t bet for them this time around simply for that reason. YES, simply for that reason.
But like any other World Cup, there has to be at least 1 underdog team in the last four. My 2 favourite underdog teams for this tournament has to be Japan and Ghana. I think Ghana has a better chance to become the underdog semi- finalist.
Enough said, let’s pray for our ’supported’ team and hopefully it will be one of the most exciting tournaments ever if not the best….
