Human Brain Technology
Thanks to the person who invented the
telephone. Without the one and only Mr. Graham-Bell back in his genius days, we
were never able to live the life we enjoy today. And thanks also, to the people
of the 21st century, continuous development of telephone equals development of
communication technology.
With the development of communication technologies are as rapid as
Twista’s record-breaking rapping, human brains are also becoming more and more
sophisticated than ever before, at a very fast pace. Is that intentional or
coincidental? A part of communication technology that I wanted to highlight in
this column is about the latest TREND, a need, not a luxury, its called
handphone (or handset, or cellphone, or mobile phone, you name it). This new
breed of ‘wireless technology‘ is a MUST for everyone nowadays. Everywhere we go, we see
handphones. Everywhere we meet a person, we ask for their handphone number, and
every time we dial their number, of course we want a conversation at least, if
not phone sex at best.
From my best knowledge, handphone (or HP) was invented to smooth
communications between 2 parties, whereas they can make or receive calls from
almost anywhere in this whole wide world. It’s a very useful (and powerful)
piece of equipment that makes it possible to tell stories to your mates who are
thousands of miles away in just a few seconds. But like I said earlier, the
more the communication technology develops, the more sophisticated human brains
become.
For most of the people, a HP is used for short/ long conversation,
or just to spread gossips or short message systems (SMS) or just for flirting.
But, as human beings becomes more sophisticated than before, some people have come out
with new (sometimes radical) ideas or purpose for the function of a HP. People started treating
their phones like a wake- up call, a death trap, highway to problems or just
merely for ‘hidden camera‘. You see John, HP is different from the bulky phone
your dad used to have in your house. When the phone rings, we just pick- up and
ask "who’s on the line?" But as for handphones, it is possible to
know who are calling before you answer it, meaning that you can choose to
answer or not to answer the calls. Example: if you think that a friend of yours
are calling asking for some money, you might just rejects the call because you
don’t want to lend him some money, whereas if a GIRL (which is 100% you will
pick- up) calls, and you think its time for some pleasure on the phone, you
will answer it straight up without wondering the purpose…Still with me Cindy? They
have the choice you see, which is not possible before the handphone times.
Now, when the person who are making the call realized that his calls
wont be answered, he just might be:
a) a troublemaker
b) non-profit making friend
c) time waster
or d) useless human being
Thanks to human brains development, and environmental pressure as well, people
starts creating reasons or ‘excuses‘ for their newfound behavior (which is not answering
specific calls). Some people go great length by saying, "I’m THE man, why
the F*CK should I explain to you?” Some of the reasons or ‘excuses’ that I
found very famous are:
a) I’m on the bike mate…
b) Sorry, I’m asleep the time you called me
c) My HP is on silence mode, sorry
or d) I was in the toilet when you called me.
How true can that be? Well, for the person who’d been the victim of the
‘unanswered call syndrome‘ for SEVERAL times, he may feel like he has been insulted, like a slap
to the face!! The word ‘insult‘ is very much appropriate in this situation.
Imagine, you approach a colleague in the office, realizing that he/she has
nothing going on, you ask a question. While you’re still waiting for the
answer, the person who you direct the question doesn’t response at all, even
though he/she knows that you are there, asking him/her a question, waiting to
be answered. But, no, no response. How does that feels John?
I was thought at very early days of school, even from my parents,
that everything that occurs in this universe has a reason. There are always
questions & answers. Nothing goes un-answered, UNLESS you wanted it to be
unanswered. To be insulted in this manner surely is a painful experience and a
hit to the egos (for the people who have one). How many of you have been
insulted in this way in the past? How do you react? DO you react?
This ‘unanswered call syndrome‘ is fast becoming an epidemic if we
do not act soon. More and more people are getting ‘sick‘ and ‘tired’ as a result of
this syndrome, unless we start to do a general ‘clear-out‘ so it may
‘disappear‘ ONCE AND FOREVER. Until that day comes, everyone will be infected, either as
a carrier or as a victim….
The coice is yours mate, the choice is yours…
