Brave MyTeam back on earth

Sports 2 Comments »

After all the hype and promise, the eagerly
anticipated ‘final’ match between MyTeam and

Malaysia

has been decided. Frankly speaking, not much to talk
about in terms of the technical or sporting aspects, but plenty of talking points
at another aspects, including far more bigger questions, among them,
"what’s next MyTeam?". MyTeam deserve to lose that match to the young
Malaysians, but this program contribute much more than the match itself, that
finally people are talking about the Malaysian football scene for whatever
reason. Let’s hope the local football scene can wake up from here and
show the people where our football really deserves to be. For FAM though, I
will never ever be in touch with you guys anymore. What I care is Malaysian
Football, not
Politic Football….

Malaysia oh Malaysia…

MyTeam vs.
Malaysia - Bkt Jalil Stadium, 28th May 2006, 7.30pm

err… MyTeam vs. Malaysia under 20s…

"Wow!! Is this for real?", ask myself a couple of weeks
ago after learning that the latest reality TV show business is serious about
business. Well, it is real at the beginning. The prospect of the Malaysian
National ‘ELITE‘ Team being trounced by a bunch of amateur or ‘kampung
boy
‘ players is a frightening experience
to be in, even for the likes of me(which has never played at any high level of
football in my life), or a father of a representative of the exciting MyTeam.
So, it’s not a surprise to learn that some of the ‘elite’ in the high echelon
of Football Association of Malaysia are sweating hard in their supposedly cold
air- conditioned room.

They know, we all know what kind of reception these people get
when they first came out with this idea. The brainchild of the twin Executive
Producer, Dato’ Khairy
‘the-most-powerful-28-year-old’ Jamalludin
and Jason ‘Evening News’ Lo to come out with this new
reality TV Show gives hope to thousands or even millions of hopefuls in this
country, the chance for them to play at the highest level of football, to compete
against the best
in Malaysian football. Before we go further down the road,
this is not Malaysian Idol, AF or One in a Million kind of reality show. Its
objective is clear, and they’re
serious about solving probably the biggest mystery of our country, the
weakness of Malaysian football
. It’s like ‘We can live in our dreams’,
or ‘I am living a footballer’s dream’.

MyTeam is a reality TV show, created to assemble 22 of the most
gifted amateur players in the country, give them the chance to prove their
stuffs, and God bless, compete at the pinnacle of Malaysian football, against
the might of the Malaysian National Team. It’s a grueling 1 1/2 months
of search, trials and selections. But thanks to the help of one successful
entrepreneur named Tony
Frernandes
, that journey is made a bit easier thanks to his very
much loved red airlines of Air Asia. At the selection venue though, TM made it
very convenient to the organizers and hopefuls with their BIG umbrella, large
signboards as protection and smooth communication among the staffs. The
‘not-proven-but-demanding’ head coach Mr. Serbegeth ‘Shebby’ Singh and his
‘unknown’ assistant coach Mr. Bojan carefully monitoring the selection and
eventually made the selection which he thinks the best and competent enough to
make it to the big stage. The journey to all over the country at about 8-10
venues, 48 of the made it to Kuala Lumpur for final selection and training. After a month of grueling and tight training
regime, the final 22 has been decided. They are ready for the final hurdle, the
Malaysia National Team. This is
it, THE moment of their lives
.

But not quite so Joe, like what you think. After weeks of
speculation, it’s finally confirmed. MyTeam will NOT play against the Malaysia
National Team (depends on how you define it). You might want to try out http://www.fam.org.my/teamframe.html
to know which the REAL Malaysian National Team is. The National Team that we
saw beaten by Indonesia in Merdeka Cup Final last year, the team that we saw
didn’t qualify for the Asian Cup at DOHA, the team that we saw lay 127th in the
official FIFA rankings. No, that’s not team that we’re going to watch playing
against MyTeam. So, which Malaysian National team are we going to see playing
against them then?? Well, according to the secretary general, anybody can be the
Malaysian National Team. Even my half-fit players of Condase FC or even
Ramblers FC of Penang can be the Malaysian National
Team. YES, you can name your hometown team as the official Malaysian National
team. At least that’s what we’ve been told by the elite of the
Association. So, as a result, the amateurs of the under 20s is the OFFICIAL
MALAYSIAN NATIONAL TEAM
these days. That is the team that is going to play
against the MyTeam this Sunday. After all the big investment the team has made,
including a trip to Old Trafford, is it worth playing against the National
under 20s as their biggest game of their lives?? You don’t have to be a rocket
scientist to figure out why this is happening. I will list you down why this
strange situation occurs:

1. Getting beaten by the amateurs of MyTeam is embarrassing
2. Getting beaten by the amateurs of MyTeam is like a slap to the face
3. Getting beaten by the amateurs of MyTeam is like we’re not professional
enough
4. Getting beaten by the amateurs of MyTeam is like we’re not competent
5. Getting beaten by the amateurs of MyTeam is like we failed to deliver the
promise we made
6. Getting beaten by the amateurs of MyTeam shows that we are just NOT GOOD
ENOUGH

Now
you know it. MAJULAH SUKAN UNTUK NEGARA?? HOW??

Now do we care???

Human Brain Technology

Current Affairs No Comments »

Thanks to the person who invented the
telephone. Without the one and only Mr. Graham-Bell back in his genius days, we
were never able to live the life we enjoy today. And thanks also, to the people
of the 21st century, continuous development of telephone equals development of
communication technology
.

With the development of communication technologies are as rapid as
Twista’s record-breaking rapping, human brains are also becoming more and more
sophisticated than ever before, at a very fast pace. Is that intentional or
coincidental? A part of communication technology that I wanted to highlight in
this column is about the latest TREND, a need, not a luxury, its called
handphone (or handset, or cellphone, or mobile phone, you name it). This new
breed of ‘wireless technology‘ is a MUST for everyone nowadays. Everywhere we go, we see
handphones. Everywhere we meet a person, we ask for their handphone number, and
every time we dial their number, of course we want a conversation at least, if
not phone sex at best.

From my best knowledge, handphone (or HP) was invented to smooth
communications between 2 parties, whereas they can make or receive calls from
almost anywhere in this whole wide world. It’s a very useful (and powerful)
piece of equipment that makes it possible to tell stories to your mates who are
thousands of miles away in just a few seconds. But like I said earlier, the
more the communication technology develops, the more sophisticated human brains
become
.

For most of the people, a HP is used for short/ long conversation,
or just to spread gossips or short message systems (SMS) or just for flirting.
But, as human beings becomes more sophisticated than before, some people have come out
with new (sometimes radical) ideas or purpose for the function of a HP. People started treating
their phones like a wake- up call, a death trap, highway to problems or just
merely for ‘hidden camera‘. You see John, HP is different from the bulky phone
your dad used to have in your house. When the phone rings, we just pick- up and
ask "who’s on the line?" But as for handphones, it is possible to
know who are calling before you answer it, meaning that you can choose to
answer or not to answer the calls. Example: if you think that a friend of yours
are calling asking for some money, you might just rejects the call because you
don’t want to lend him some money, whereas if a GIRL (which is 100% you will
pick- up) calls, and you think its time for some pleasure on the phone, you
will answer it straight up without wondering the purpose…Still with me Cindy? They
have the choice you see, which is not possible before the handphone times.

Now, when the person who are making the call realized that his calls
wont be answered, he just might be:
a) a troublemaker
b) non-profit making friend
c) time waster
or d) useless human being

Thanks to human brains development, and environmental pressure as well, people
starts creating reasons or ‘excuses‘ for their newfound behavior (which is not answering
specific calls). Some people go great length by saying, "I’m THE man, why
the F*CK should I explain to you?”
Some of the reasons or ‘excuses’ that I
found very famous are:
a) I’m on the bike mate…
b) Sorry, I’m asleep the time you called me
c) My HP is on silence mode, sorry
or d) I was in the toilet when you called me.

How true can that be? Well, for the person who’d been the victim of the
unanswered call syndrome‘ for SEVERAL times, he may feel like he has been insulted, like a slap
to the face!!
The word ‘insult‘ is very much appropriate in this situation.
Imagine, you approach a colleague in the office, realizing that he/she has
nothing going on, you ask a question. While you’re still waiting for the
answer, the person who you direct the question doesn’t response at all, even
though he/she knows that you are there, asking him/her a question, waiting to
be answered. But, no, no response. How does that feels John?

I was thought at very early days of school, even from my parents,
that everything that occurs in this universe has a reason. There are always
questions & answers. Nothing goes un-answered, UNLESS you wanted it to be
unanswered. To be insulted in this manner surely is a painful experience and a
hit to the egos (for the people who have one). How many of you have been
insulted in this way in the past? How do you react? DO you react?

This ‘unanswered call syndrome‘ is fast becoming an epidemic if we
do not act soon. More and more people are getting ‘sick‘ and ‘tired’ as a result of
this syndrome, unless we start to do a general ‘clear-out‘ so it may
disappearONCE AND FOREVER. Until that day comes, everyone will be infected, either as
a carrier or as a victim….

The coice is yours mate, the choice is yours…
